Description: PE fittings are matched with HDPE pipes. Made of high-density polyethylene (HDPE), they are used in drip irrigation, sprinkler irrigation and water-fertilizer integration systems to realize pipe diameter reduction, direction change, branching, plugging and connection.

1. Types

(1) Classified by connection method

Quick-fit (lock / clamp) fittings, commonly known as quick connectors, are most widely used for small diameters DN16~DN63. No hot melting required, tightened by hand for fast on-site installation, suitable for temporary or field irrigation projects. Including: straight connectors, elbows, tees, reducers, end plugs, barbed take-offs and saddle clamps.

Hot fusion fittings: For large-diameter main pipes DN40 and above, connected by butt fusion or socket fusion. High connection strength and excellent sealing performance, suitable for long-term buried projects. Including: hot-fusion straight connectors, hot-fusion 90° elbows, hot-fusion tees, reducing tees, flanges and end plugs.

Electro-fusion fittings: Built-in resistance wires, fused by electric heating. Higher cost, adopted for high-pressure, critical main pipelines and emergency repair works.

(2) Classified by function

Straight connector: Joins two pipe sections of the same diameter. 90° elbow: Changes the pipe direction by 90 degrees. Tee: Splits one pipeline into two for water distribution; reducing tee (different-diameter tee) for main pipe and branch pipe of different sizes. Reducer (bushing): Transition between pipes of different diameters. End plug: Seals the end of pipelines. Saddle clamp (saddle tee): Drills holes on the side of main pipe to branch off without cutting the main pipe. Flange fitting: Connects PE pipes with metal equipment such as water pumps, filters and valves. Drip take-off: Special small connector for linking drip tape / drip irrigation pipe to PE branch pipes.

(3) Classified by raw material

Virgin HDPE fittings: Made of virgin resin, aging-resistant and tensile-resistant, the preferred choice for bidding projects. Recycled-material fittings: Mixed with recycled plastics, prone to brittle cracking. Not recommended for formal water conservancy projects.

2. Performance (Virgin HDPE)

Material: High-density polyethylene (HDPE), black, added with carbon black for UV resistance.

Pressure rating: PN6, PN8, PN10, consistent with the matching PE pipes.

Corrosion resistance: Resistant to acid, alkali in soil and chemical fertilizer solution, rust-free, suitable for saline-alkali farmland.

Toughness: Impact-resistant, hard to break under slight ground settlement; not easy to crack at low temperatures.

Sealing performance: Joints prevent water leakage after proper installation.

Aging resistance: Carbon black is added for UV resistance for surface installation; longer service life when buried underground.

Operating temperature: -20℃～60℃

Note: The service life of quick-fit fittings under long-term outdoor sunlight exposure is shorter than hot fusion fittings.

3. Functions

Pipe connection: Splice multiple sections of PE pipes to extend water delivery pipelines. Pipeline direction adjustment: Elbows change pipe routes to adapt to field terrain. Water diversion and branching: Tees, saddle clamps and take-offs divide the main pipe into multiple branch pipes to supply water to each planting unit. Diameter transition: Reducers connect pipes of different sizes, realizing transition from large-diameter main pipes to small-diameter branch pipes. End sealing: End plugs seal pipe ends and redundant water outlets. Heterogeneous connection: Flanges connect plastic PE pipes with metal equipment including water pumps, filters and valves.
